The makers of the I Love Lucy Game just might have "some 'splainin' to do" themselves, since they've basically retooled a rudimentary roll-the-dice board chase by gilding it with lots of superfluous Lucy-goosey frills. Players attempt to move their token from the starting space (called "Ricardo's 3D") to the finish depicted on the board as the top of the Mertz's fire escape. Along the way, they try to amass cash and character cards named for I Love Lucy characters, while following instructions on both the board (such as "Return to Kramer's Kandy Factory") and cards drawn from either the Lucy deck ("Fred puts ear muffs over his ears to keep from listening to Ethel practice the piano. Collect one Fred card from the bank," being one tortured example) or the "AY...YI...YI...YI...YI!" deck (we kid you not) which requires players to act out scenes from classic episodes. Casual viewers of the TV show, unfamiliar with these inside references, may opt to lose a turn rather than attempt to imitate Lucy as Yankee Stadium hot dog vendor or Ping-Pong player on the SS Constitution. In fact, to thoroughly enjoy this game, loving Lucy may not be enough. Full-scale adoration may be necessary. --Tony Mason I Love Lucy Game.
